Graeme Cuthbert

Principal

Graeme previously built BCG’s energy practice in Australia and co-led McKinsey’s Australian energy practice, working across all the major downstream energy and energy transition issues over the last fifteen years. He has also held senior executive roles in Government in both NSW and UK, where he created the UK’s long-term decarbonisation planning function and restructured power and gas markets.

Graeme holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science with Honours and the University Medal from the University of Sydney.

Peter Lambert

Principal

Peter is a Principal with BBA and brings almost 30 years’ experience in the energy sector. Before joining BBA, Peter was a Partner with McKinsey, serving several of the world’s leading energy companies. Peter co-led McKinsey’s energy practice in Australian and NZ and led its gas service line for Asia Pacific.

Previously, Peter was an economist for Ofgas, the UK gas industry regulator, where he was involved in developing competitive markets in gas supply, trading and shipping and in negotiating price controls.

Peter graduated with an honours degree in Economics from Trinity College, Dublin.

Mike McKensey

Principal

Mike brings over 20 years’ experience in investment banking, the majority of which has been with Macquarie and focused on energy and environmental markets. Mike has extensive experience leading the development of successful businesses in new markets across the range of investment banking verticals including trading, funds management, project finance and asset development.

Outside of work Mike is an enthusiastic sailor, having spent most of 2024 sailing around the Pacific with his family.

Ash Thornton

Associate Principal

Ash is an Associate Principal with BBA. He has significant experience across energy, resources, and advanced analytics through consulting at Port Jackson Partners and McKinsey, as well as commercials and advanced analytics at Eku Energy and Macquarie.

Ash holds a PhD in energy and production system optimisation and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) from UNSW.

Imogen Moran

Associate Principal

Imogen is an Associate Principal with BBA. She has significant strategy consulting experience from Port Jackson Partners across energy, decarbonisation, industrials, mining and regulatory reform. Prior to this, Imogen was an immunologist and undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Garvan Institute of Medical research.

Imogen holds a PhD from UNSW and a Bachelor of Philosophy (First Class Honours and University Medal) from ANU.

James Hayne

Associate Principal

James is an Associate Principal with BBA and brings deep experience in strategy and policy. Before joining BBA, James worked at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and Port Jackson Partners, where he advised companies and governments across energy, resources and regulatory reform.

James studied at ANU, graduating with a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (First Class Honours and University Medal) and a Bachelor of Science.

Mel Finch

Associate Principal

Melanie is an Associate Principal with BBA with a strategy consulting and engineering background. At McKinsey, Mel specialised in downstream energy, energy transition and resources, and developed novel analytical products. Prior to this, she delivered multi-disciplinary projects in the built environment sector at a specialised engineering consultancy.

Mel graduated with First Class Honours in her Mechanical Engineering and Commerce degree from UNSW.
